The Winbourne Wingnuts - West Moonah, Tasmania
The winbourne wingnuts explore the potential for architecture to be supplied at an economic scale for the
Average home owner. Each townhouse provides a large reverse living arrangement with atriums and a well lit study space on ground with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms per unit. The site is less than 500sqm and cars are deliberately coupled and pulled away from the buildings to provide a clear sense of entrance, maximum light & ventilation performance and 2 separate entrances directly to living outdoor entertainment spaces via the arched bridge stairways or discrete ground level entrances into private bedroom and study spaces. The kaleiscopic windows which dit dot the facade provide privacy from the exposed elevated roadway beside, whilst creating framed views and beautiful sunlight and shadow patternation within. These are organic in their figuration & architectural / spatial intent.
