The Troy River Village House - Westerway, Derwent Valley, Tasmania
The troy river village house was commissioned to house a multi-generational family. The design reflects the qualities and characteristics of the minituaresque roadside town of westerway. With a 70m wide site, the streetscape needed to address the unusual emptiness of the town , whilst opening into the beautiful tyenne river, 2 metres away from the outdoor living spaces. The roadside is deliberately private and mysterious- at night time the patternated lantern windows could further exemplify the eyes of creatures in the dark. Platypus swim in the river, abundant with trout & tasmanian devils are frequently spotted by the visitors & locals. Its a magical place & a gateway into the mt field national park.
