The Fishing Retreat - Westerway, Tasmania
The fishing retreat is a small semi-permanent residence, which is situated
near a popular fishing destination in the derwent valley.
The client requested a particularly unusual design, to break away from the conservation architecture that is often found within inner city or towns around tasmania. As the building would be built in a flood prone area, it is seen to leave the ground and be elevated in preparation for the dangerous flood conditions that come thru the property once every 12-24 months.
The architecture is casual and playful in its nature and provides certain cultural and formal references to the rich agricultural legacy of the area.
