Director Simon Duraid Linardi is a Registered Architect in Victoria & Tasmania.
Simon has over 14 years of Industry experience, including Edmond & Corrigan (18 months), dKo Architecture (5 years), BKK Architects (4 Years), Kristen Green Architects (18months):
Commencing his journey into the office of DKo architecture in early 2005.
Here Simon was exposed to the many dimensions of urban planning &
multi-residential masterplans, typologies & developments.
In 2008 Simon moved to BKK architecture after successfully contributing to the winning design competition for the renovation of the Footscray social housing tower, in Victoria Australia. Here Simon worked closely with each of the 3 directors on a wide variety of projects ranging from civic infrastructure, cultural & institutional projects such as a competition for the UTS Sydney Broadway
competition & harbour esplanade: a Waterfront masterplan for docklands,
Victoria & a 1km long shopping mall facade design in Suzhou, China.
During 2009/2010 Simon completed a year of his Master of Architecture degree
at Politecnico Di Milano, Milan, Italy, where he worked on urban design & architecture proposals on historic sites across the city of Milan.
This school is regarded as being within the top 10 architecture schools in the world.
In 2012 Simon was awarded the Australian Institute of Architects graduate
of the year prize for RMIT university & the Anne Butler Memorial medal for the best overall major project/thesis project under the supervision of Prof Peter Corrigan at the school.
Upon Graduating Simon returned to DKo Architecture in Melbourne where he operated as the lead design architect for Koos de Keizjer, the Founding Principle
of DKo Architecture. Simon was the Design architect of the Queens Domain Tower at south Melbourne & some 40 other residential masterplan, tower, civic & cultural architecture & urban design projects in Australia, Vietnam & New Zealand.
In 2017 Simon Linardi founded Atelier Cartel. Key current Projects In the practise include – A luxury beach house on the east coast of Tasmania, An art installation in collaboration with WAG – Warrnambool Art Gallery & a 10 Storey mixed use residential/commercial building in the Hobart CBD- which currently holds a planning approval.
In 2018 Simon was invited to exhibit a decade of his projects at the International Architecture - Venice Biennale 2018: Unfolding Pavillion – which surveyed the work of 10 International architects & the contribution and influence of their time spent studying/living in Italy.
Simon was mentored by the legendary architect & set designer Prof Peter Corrigan, having spent 18 months in the office, he assisted Corrigan with the stage set design drawings for his final Opera – Giuseppe Verdi's – Falstaff (Opernhaus Graz – Graz Austria, 2013). Simon has 7 Years of Teaching Experience:
RMIT: 5 Major Project, 2 Master of architecture design studios & First Year design.
Monash University: Bachelor of Interior Architecture – Design Studio
Melbourne Polytechnic: Bachelor of the built environment – 2 x Design Studios.
Simon is Currently the leader of First Year Architecture: Design studio & Visual Communications subjects at Melbourne Polytechnic for semester 01. 2019
